The guiding principle of Dr. Espinoza’s work over the past decade has been that data and technology have the potential to narrow the health gap faced by underserved communities all over the world. He has deep research expertise in digital health, medical devices, clinical informatics, and patient-generated health data. Clinically, he has focused on pediatric obesity and complex care coordination.
Pioneering Health Technologies
Dr. Espinoza is also currently an Attending Physician at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) and an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at the Keck School of Medicine of USC. He is the Co-Director for Clinical Research Informatics for SC CTSI, and Medical Director of the CHLA Innovation Studio. He has evaluated over 400 healthcare startups and published more than 50 original research articles, reviews, and abstracts.
Innovative Research in Diabetes Tech
His work on diabetes technology has focused on continuous glucose monitoring, data aggregation and integration, the development of data and workflow standards, and advancing the use of digital health in diabetes management.
